PARKLET PERMITTING OPENS AUGUST 1ST

The City of New Orleans has announced it will officially begin taking applications for Parklet Permits on Tuesday, August 1st, 2023.

The new Parklet Permit builds upon the economic development opportunity created by the City of New Orleans’ three-year Pilot Parklet Program that introduced parklets as an innovative means to safely attract customers to bars and restaurants during the COVID-19 pandemic. The new Parklet Permit will allow bars and restaurants to utilize on-street parking spaces in front of their business to expand outdoor seating options.

The DDD has partnered with the Department of Safety and Permits to offer Downtown businesses expedited permitting services for DDD grant applicants. The DDD offers an Outdoor Dining Grant that can assist with 50% of expenditures up to $3,000.00. If you have questions about the parklet permitting process or need help getting started, fill out THIS FORM.  A member of the DDD’s economic development team will schedule a time to meet with you and walk you through the permitting process.

The new Parklet Permit has been established through a change to the City of New Orleans Code of Ordinances and Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance.  Residents can learn more about the Parklet Permit, including restrictions, fees, and application requirements, at nola.gov/parklet-permit/.

The Parklet Permit application will be available Aug. 1st, 2023, on the One Stop App at  onestopapp.nola.gov/.
