The DDD and the Astor Crowne Plaza along with Mayor Landrieu, the City Council and Santa officially kicked off the holiday season with the annual Canal Street Lighting Ceremony. Tuesday, hundreds of revelers joined in as we “flipped the switch” turning on more than one million twinkling lights, brightening the historic street for holiday shoppers, diners, visitors and revelers. This year, the Riverwalk and Convention Center contributed to the majesty with the lighting of the 50ft Christmas Tree and Convention Center Boulevard, creating a stunning display of 2 miles of continuous, twinkling holiday lights.
The Canal Street Lighting Ceremony is only the first event in the 2016 Canal Street: Home for the Holidays celebration, presented by the DDD and The Roosevelt New Orleans hotel. Be sure to join in on all the fun. Click here for a list of events.
