One Million Square Foot Historic Redevelopment Opportunity in New Orleans
The State of Louisiana released an RFI for the redevelopment of the Art-Deco Charity Hospital in Downtown New Orleans on Wednesday. This beautiful, historic, Art-Deco building has been vacant since 2005 when it was shuttered by Hurricane Katrina.
The state’s Request For Information describes the one million square foot property, refers the reader to a wealth of additional information and resources and can be found at: http://wwwprd1.doa.louisiana.gov/OSP/LaPAC/dspBid.cfm?search=department&term=43.
The property is located in a rapidly redeveloping area of Downtown New Orleans near Canal St, the Central Business District, Tulane Health Sciences Center, University Medical Center, the Mercedes Benz Superdome, and French Quarter. Also, it is convenient to the new Loyola Streetcar Line, the Amtrak Union Passenger Terminal and is ideally situated for a variety of redevelopment uses.
The State of Louisiana offers a 25% historic tax credit program that can be coupled with the 20% federal historic tax credit program and other development incentives.
