KICK-OFF THE HOLIDAYS IN DOWNTOWN NEW ORLEANS

On Tuesday, November 26th, celebrate lighting up historic Canal Street, Caesars New Orleans, Convention Center Boulevard, and Spanish Plaza for the holidays!

In keeping with the storied annual tradition, the Downtown Development District of the City of New Orleans (DDD) announces that the Holiday Lighting of Canal Street Event will occur on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Canal Place.  DDD leadership, City officials, and other stakeholders will say a few words before counting down to the lights coming on at 5:45 PM.

The public is invited to the lighting event hosted at the Canal Place plaza (333 Canal Street) to help count down to millions of lights being lit from South Claiborne Avenue to the River throughout the holiday season. DDD will coordinate with Caesars New Orleans as they light up for the first time after extensive renovations, Riverwalk Outlets, simultaneously lighting its 30-foot tree in Spanish Plaza and the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center as they light up Convention Center Boulevard.  Festivities will begin at 4:30 PM with entertainment, caroling from the Voices of Peter Claver, a hot chocolate station, bites from Brasa, glitter bar, a visit from Santa Claus, and more.

“DDD is excited to kick off the holiday season with the lighting of Canal Street and beyond,” said Davon Barbour, President & CEO of Downtown Development District.  “The holidays are a magical time in Downtown New Orleans, and we invite everyone to come enjoy the shopping, dining, beautifully decorated hotel lobbies, and ‘only in New Orleans’ experiences like the Children’s Hospital Holiday Parade.”
