DDD CHIEF OF PUBLIC SAFETY AND FIELD OPERATIONS

The Downtown Development District of the City of New Orleans seeks a Chief of Public Safety & Field Operations.  This position is a pivotal leader within a small but dedicated management team, responsible for managing and optimizing the day-to-day operations of the district.

This role oversees safety and cleaning teams, leads projects in partnership with city departments, and collaborates with a wide network of property owners, community organizations, staff, contractors, City of New Orleans departments and other public agencies. The Chief works to create a clean, safe, and engaging environment, cultivating strong community alliances to keep downtown vibrant and well-maintained while strategically planning for an even brighter future.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Lead and manage the operations of clean and safe teams (Public Safety Rangers, Private Security, and Police) within the district.
  • Coordinate with city departments and stakeholders on projects that enhance public safety and the aesthetic quality of downtown.
  • Build strong relationships with property and business owners, as well as community organizations, to foster support for district initiatives.
  • Represent the DDD alongside the President & CEO, embodying the organization’s mission to promote a prosperous, dynamic, and innovative downtown.
