Discover Downtown: Prytania Theatres

The Prytania Theatres, New Orleans’ oldest operating theatre, has expanded to a second location in Downtown NOLA on historic Canal Street! Check out their new, nine screen, state-of-the-art digital cinema located on the third floor of Canal Place. The theatre includes a lively piano bar: 24 Frames, featuring happy hour every day from 3:00pm – 6:00pm and musician Phil Melancon performing on their baby grand piano every Tuesday and Saturday from 4:00pm – 6:00pm. Enjoy New Orleans Classics & Show Tunes in Phil’s iconic New Orleans style. The theatre also features a coffee bar.

The original Prytania Theatres is a one-screen theatre which features a combination of popular hits and cult classics. This year marks The Prytania Theatre’s 106th anniversary, making it the longest continually operated theatre in the South. It has spanned through four generations and has now been operated by the Brunet family for over 25 years.

Both theatres are following City guidelines for a safe reopening and require guests to wear masks for entrance. Small groups no larger than 10 are welcome, but if you’re interested in reserving a theater for a private screening, please email info@theprytania.com for more information. To reduce person-to-person interaction, they encourage (but do not require) online ticket purchases.
