The DDD is excited to announce “Dine Around Downtown: New Orleans Edition,” a series of virtual cooking demonstrations with popular Downtown restaurants. Our first episode featured Ruby Slipper Café and can be viewed below!
The series kicked off Tuesday, April 6 at 6:00pm with Ruby Slipper! Viewers were able to join us as we went LIVE on the DDD’s Facebook with Chef Dwayne Henderson for a free cooking demonstration on how to make their famous Bacon Praline Pancakes!
This program is free to participate, and viewers are encouraged to follow along with the cooking demo to create their own version of the dish at home. Following the live demonstration, participants will have one week (until Tuesday, April 13 at 11:59pm) to post a picture of their finished plate to Facebook or Instagram using #DineAroundDowntownNOLA and tag both the DDD and Ruby Slipper! The head chef will pick the winning dish and present the winner with a Gift Card to the restaurant!

About Ruby Slipper:
The Ruby Slipper Cafe was founded in May 2008, after Hurricane Katrina devastated the Mid-City, New Orleans neighborhood. In recovery from that life-changing storm, husband & wife – Erich & Jennifer Weishaupt found an opportunity to turn a blighted corner store into a vibrant gathering place where neighbors could enjoy excellent Breakfast, Lunch & Brunch fare in a casual and inviting atmosphere. The Ruby Slipper Cafe Mid-City was an instant success due to its inviting nature & innovative brunch & morning cocktail selections. Since then Ruby Slipper Cafes have opened in Downtown, the Marigny, Uptown, the French Quarter, Baton Rouge, Pensacola, Florida, Orange Beach, Alabama, and Downtown Mobile, Alabama.
