RECon, the annual global conference sponsored by the International Council of Shopping Centers brings thousands of public officials to meet with over 35,000 attendees at the largest retail real estate event in the world to seek out potential private partners and development opportunities for their communities. In an effort to promote additional economic development, enhance the local tax base, and create new jobs, the New Orleans Delegation will travel to Las Vegas next week. ICSC estimates that approximately 50 percent of all industry deals are conceived or consummated at RECon.
This year, DDD Director of Economic Development Leigh Ferguson has been selected as Louisiana P3 Retail Chair. The P3 Retail program, formerly known as the Alliance, has been around since 1997 to bring about a greater understanding of the positive economic impact of the shopping center industry on communities, and to provide a forum to initiate dialogue and develop better working relationships between developers, retailers, brokers, lenders, and local public officials.
