The Downtown Development District proudly announces that Ashley Mills has been named the organization’s new Chief Marketing Officer.
Mills has been in the Marketing & Communications Manager role with the DDD for the last year. In this role, she supported the District’s MarCom initiatives, specializing in telling the story of Downtown New Orleans through the weekly newsletter and social media. She also oversaw the production and execution of DDD events.
Before joining the DDD, Mills spent over 20 years in the nonprofit sector in New Orleans, where she developed a broad range of skills in board and committee management, membership cultivation and retention, partner engagement, and meeting and event planning. She also specializes in strategic planning and building holistic communication plans that enable agencies to maximize constituent involvement and coalition building.
Her volunteer leadership includes having served on the boards of the 610 Stompers, the Jr. Committee of the Women’s Opera Guild, Community Health Charities, and the Faubourg Delachaise Neighborhood Association, and as a longtime volunteer for the National Kidney Foundation of Louisiana and the Louisiana Hospitality Foundation.
A sixth-generation BOI from Galveston, TX, Mills made New Orleans her home in 1999. In her free time, she enjoys exploring the vibrant New Orleans food and arts scenes and using her creativity to make shoes she throws on the parade route with the Krewe of Muses.
