DDD Announces Barbara Waiters as new Director of Public Affairs & Policy

The Downtown Development District is proud to announce Barbara Waiters as the new Director of Public Affairs & Policy.
Ms. Waiters comes to the DDD from Delgado Community College where she served as the Director of Community and Economic Development for Workforce Development and Technical Education. In that role, she was responsible for a diverse array of workforce training programs and initiatives, identifying opportunities for strategic workforce partnerships with industry, community and government leaders and stakeholders, and managed over 4.2 million dollars in grants and contracts
Before joining Delgado, she served as Executive Director of the Algiers Economic Development Foundation, leading a number of programs and activities, including the creation of its Strategic Plan.
As Director of Public Affairs & Policy, Ms. Waiters will be responsible for strengthening the DDD’s relationships with Downtown stakeholders and other governmental and economic development agencies, as well as working with the CEO and Board of Commissioners to craft public policies beneficial to Downtown and its stakeholders.
Ms. Waiters has served on several boards and commissions throughout her career. She currently serves on the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority Board of Commissioners, Ochsner Medical Center West Bank Governing Board, New Orleans Public Library Foundation Board of Directors, Boys Town Louisiana Board of Directors and Chalmette Refinery Community Advisory Board.
Ms. Waiters holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Marketing with a minor in Economics from Xavier University in New Orleans.
