The 2015 Birdfoot Festival will fill downtown with dynamic live chamber music May 26-29! Check out the lunchtime Café Concert at the CAC (12:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 26), drop in on three days of Open Rehearsals to discover art in the making, and wind down at the CAC on Friday evening (May 29) with a happy-hour at 5:30 pm, an hour of poetry and spoken word at 6 pm, and a concert honoring the ten-year anniversary of Katrina at 8 pm. This concert, Waterlines-A Hymn for New Orleans, features a program of vibrant contemporary music (including works by Ades and Saariaho), a cutting-edge collaboration between musicians of the Birdfoot Festival and spoken-word artist Kataalyst Alcindor, and a stormy performance of Debussy’s La Mer. Have a drink with the artists after the show!
Prefer to pair your music with great food? You’ll want to grab one of the last few tickets for the festival’s classy dinner event, A Musical Feast, with local rising-star Chef Kristen Essig of Meauxbar. A sneak-preview concert, incredible food and panoramic view of New Orleans from the stunning dining room of Jones Walker LLP-what’s not to like?
