Stella and Harry Jones co-founded the Stella Jones Gallery in 1997 after decades of building their own private collection of works from the African Diaspora. Their artistic journey has always been a labor of love — their shared love and a love of Black culture. Together, Stella and Harry built Stella Jones Gallery into one of the leading contemporary art galleries in the world focusing on works from the African Diaspora. Since the founding of the gallery, the Jones collection has expanded significantly in depth and breadth of represented artists and mediums, and now includes works dating back to 1828. Stella and Harry’s four children, Brigette, Kali, Shaunna and Harry Jr. have inherited their parents’ appreciation of art and are avid collectors. Their varied points of view and different artistic focuses will ensure an exciting future for the family collection.
As a tribute to the memory of beloved co-founder Harry Jones, and as a special gift to the community that has supported Stella Jones Gallery over the years, the Jones family is exhibiting selections from their family collection.
