Sugar Bowl Rescheduled
The Sugar Bowl has been rescheduled for 3 p.m. today due to the Bourbon Street attack. The decision was made in coordination with federal, state, and local authorities as well as the College Football Playoff, ESPN, the Southeastern Conference, the University of Georgia, the University of Notre Dame, and the Caesars Superdome.
Bourbon Street To Reopen at 2:30 PM
At this morning’s press conference, Mayor LaToya Cantrell announced that Bourbon Street has been released to the City and will be reopened to the public at 2:30 PM. Official updates on closures can be found on www.nola.gov
Victim Support Fund
The Greater New Orleans Foundation has created a New Year’s Day Tragedy Fund for families of those whose lives were taken and those injured as a result of the incident. United Way of Southern Louisiana has also launched a United for New Orleans Relief Fund to provide direct support to victims and their families, which you can donate to at the LINK.
Blood Drive for Victims
The New Orleans Blood Center located at 2609 Canal Street will hold a blood drive today, Thursday, Jan. 2, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday, Jan. 3, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. to support blood replacement and medical care for victims suffering incident related injuries. Emergency Declarations Issued
Yesterday, both the Mayor of the City of New Orleans and Governor of the State of Louisiana issued emergency declarations due to the attack on Bourbon Street. The declarations will allow the city and state to utilize all available resources to restore safety to the public.
