PARKING INSTRUCTIONS AND TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS FOR EVENTS ON THE WEEKEND OF OCT 30 – NOV 1, 2015

The City of New Orleans issued parking instructions and reminders in advance of events for the weekend of Oct. 31 – Nov. 1, 2015. The public is encouraged to be patient and to prepare for heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic in the specified areas by making transportation arrangements accordingly.

VOODOO MUSIC + ARTS EXPERIENCE

The VooDoo Music + Arts Experience will take place from 10:30 a.m. – 11 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30 through Saturday, Oct. 31 and from 10:30 a.m. – 9 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015 at the City Park Festival Grounds. The public is encouraged to be patient and prepared for heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic along Wisner Blvd. and in the neighborhoods around the City Park Festival Grounds. Motorists are reminded to lock their vehicles and remove any valuable items when parking in the area.

HALLOWEEN TRICK-OR-TREATING ACTIVITIES

Due to the forecast for this weekend, the City is recommending that residents move Halloween activities, including trick-or-treating, to Friday, Oct. 30, 2015 between the hours of 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. The National Weather Service’s current forecast predicts showers with probable thunderstorms for the evening of Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015, and a strong possibility of showers during the daytime.

 

2015 JAZZ HALF MARATHON AND 5K

The 2015 Jazz Half Marathon and 5K are scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015.

Half Marathon Race

The Half Marathon will start at 7 a.m. on Camp Street at S. Maestri Place. Continue on Camp Street to St. Joseph Street turn left on St. Joseph Street, continue to Convention Center Blvd. Turn right on Convention Center Blvd., continue to intersection with Gaienne Street. U-turn to other side of Convention Center Blvd., and continue to Poydras Street. Turn left on Poydras Street, continue to Clara Street. Make U-turn to other side of Poydras Street and continue river bound on Poydras Street to St. Charles Avenue. Continue on St. Charles Avenue to Audubon Park. Enter Audubon Park and continue around park loop jogging pathway between St. Charles Avenue and Magazine Street. Exit Audubon Park onto St. Charles Avenue and continue in downtown direction on St. Charles Avenue. Turn right from St. Charles Avenue onto Andrew Higgins Street. Turn left onto Camp Street; continue on Camp Street  to Finish line at intersection with S. Maestri Place.

5-K Race

After the start of the Half Marathon, the 5-K race will begin. The 5-K race course will follow the same route as the Half Marathon, except the 5-K runners will proceed river bound on Poydras Street to Camp Street, turn right on Camp Street to N. Maestri Place where the event will end.

 

HALLOWEEN IN NEW ORLEANS

The 2015 Halloween in New Orleans event will take place at the Contemporary Arts Center Sheds at 900 Camp Street on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015, from 9 p.m. until 3 a.m. Sunday morning. Due to limited parking in the area, the public is encouraged to use public transportation, cabs or bicycles when traveling to this area.

 

SAINTS VS. GIANTS FOOTBALL GAME

The New Orleans Saints football team will play the New York Giants on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015 at noon at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Beginning at 9 a.m., heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic is expected along Poydras Street between Loyola and S. Claiborne Avenues and in the surrounding area.
