Downtown NOLA Arts-Based Business Pitch
As a Strategic Partner of the Idea Village for the 2017 Entrepreneur Season, the Downtown Development District along with CANO and LCEF will host the fifth annual Creative Industries Summit featuring the Downtown NOLA Arts-Based Business Pitch during New Orleans Entrepreneur Week 2017, the premier annual business festival, on Monday, March 20.
The Pitch event is aimed at identifying and supporting entrepreneurs that have an arts-based project or product that benefits the Downtown Development District, that is preferably scalable and is situated in the creative, architecture, technology, digital media or film/entertainment fields.
The DDD and other partners will provide a prize package valued at over $40,000 to the winner that will consist of numerous hours of professional legal, accounting, Public Relations and marketing services and cash.
The winner will be the pitch/presentation that best embodies the spirit and culture of Downtown New Orleans in a sustainable project.

LCEF: The Win/Win of Cultural Entrepreneurship – Putting Your Passions to Work
What does it take to be successful in the creative industries? Hear from three businesses at three different levels of success. Ethel Williams of Cocoa & Cream Mobile Food and Catering will share her experience going from mom and phlebotomist to launching a successful food truck business and she’ll share tips on how to take advantage of resources available. Publisher, gallery owner and entrepreneur Steve Martin will talk about creating Art+Design magazine, whose readership spans 12 countries. Hear from Domain Companies Principal, Matt Schwartz, about their unique business model which incorporates arts and culture. This New York-based company is making a huge impact in New Orleans, from the artsy Ace Hotel, to residential developments, and to The Shop, a shared workspace at the Contemporary Arts Center.
