COOL SPOT
Guests at the September event enjoyed cool treats, such as summery non-alcoholic drinks by Victory Bar, ice cream from Quintin, and Italian ice from Sunset Slush. Children were able to get in on the fun by playing in the green space and decorating their own fans to help “beat the heat.”

Blooms & Beats was designed to celebrate the fall planting season with demonstrations by experts and seedling giveaways. An African drumming interactive performance entertained youth and adults. Fall-themed cookies and treats, as well as apple cider, were available. Younger children were able to get creative at the kids’ table, where they colored pictures with Halloween and Autumn themes.

About Legacy Park
Legacy Park is a new green space in the historic Lafayette Square neighborhood in Downtown New Orleans (730 Baronne St). The Legacy Park Project is a partnership among Downtown Development District, International High School New Orleans, NOLA Public Schools, American Society of Landscape Architects, Groundwork New Orleans, generous sponsors, and Downtown businesses and residents. It transformed a portion of the IHSNO parking lot into a shared green space serving both the students and the surrounding community. The beautifully designed park incorporates storm water management features, an outdoor classroom with a flexible lawn and shaded outdoor seating.
