nolaNOW Theatre Company is a non-profit theater company founded in 2018 by Madeline Kolker and Coco Guillot. Through contemporary storytelling and empathy driven theater productions, nolaNOW aims to highlight the anxieties of living in the 21st century and uplift marginalized voices in our local community.
nolaNOW is proud to present our second production as a company, POOF! by Lynn Nottage. When a housewife comes to the end of her rope with her abusive husband, she doesn’t expect him to spontaneously combust. Now, she has a pile of ashes on the floor, and a life to reclaim. This one-act explores themes of feminism, domestic abuse, and recovery through humor and hope.
We will have eight performances of POOF! at the following dates and times: November 7th-9th at 7:30pm; November 10th at 3:00 pm; November 14th-16th at 7:30 pm; and November 17th at 3:00 pm.
All performances will be held at Beaubourg Theatre, located at
614 Gravier Street in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Each performance will begin with a unique opening act titled “I am here. I AM.” where local artists Rachel Blackstone and Joshua Bock will reflect on the show’s themes through their collaborative poetry and music. On the 8th and 16th, we will also be joined by dancer Rey Hope Hansen, who has created a movement piece to compliment the show.
Tickets are available now on a sliding scale, starting at $15. Tickets can be purchased at nolanowtheatre.com/poof . If you cannot attend, please consider supporting our growing company at https://www.nolanowtheatre.com/contribute.
