Meet our Live Jazz Band Led By Zakk Garner:
Zakk Garner is a Louisiana based jazz musician, composer, bandleader, and music educator. He completed his undergraduate degree in music education at Southeastern Louisiana University and his master’s degree in jazz studies at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Zakk has performed with artists such as Ellis, Branford, Jason, and Delfeayo Marsalis, The Lionel Hampton Big Band, Wycliffe Gordon, Herlin Riley, Victor Goines, Bobby Broom, James Carter, and many more. Making his international debut in 2017, Garner was featured at the JazzIt Festival in Feltre, Italy where he performed alongside Chicago pianist Julius Tucker and Italian jazz legend “Maestro” Enrico Intra.
Zakk currently holds the position of Gifted and Talented Music Instructor for Tangipahoa Parish while maintaining a very active performing career as a bandleader and sideman. Garner’s debut album, “Humble Ambition”, is set to release on Earthship Records in November of 2018.
